No more contamination problems. here is why
    #861182 - 09/03/02 07:48 AM (21 years, 6 months ago)

I used to have alot of contamination problems before I bought a pressure cooker... but most people here already know the advantages of the cooker. But when I got a cooker, I got brave and tried to colonize my jars without having a dry layer of verm on the top. I succeeded about half the time with this method.

then I started to seal off my kitchen with those big plasic drapings for painting rooms. After sealing off my kitchen, and using an empty cabinet space in my kitchen to let the jars colonize, I have never had contam problemseven though I never use the dry verm layer.

my point? seal off your kitchen and dont take your jars out of the kitchen untill they are colonized.

A simple glove box would be easier and probably close to what you mean.

Some people can get away with grain to grain transfers in their kitchens, without even a glovebox. It depends so much on the state of affairs of your place, what season of the year it is, how clean you happen to be at the time. . .etc.
