Cooked Cakes?

I understand that mycelium is killed at 106 degrees. Now a friend of mine had about 6 jars at about 96 to 100 degrees. The mycelium growth slowed immensily, maybe even stopped growing. The cake smelled almost like cooked flour and vermiculite (not pleasant). I was just wondering if you think the cakes are cooked or maybe the temp just needs to be lowered and if they are savable. Thanks for your help :smile:

The tek first tek I ever read was from www.growmushrooms.org (no longer exists) and it said "They [cakes] will usually die if they ever get above 95 degrees F"  Also the graph on the FAQ shows a serious drop off in growth after 95 degrees

Not an expert though  :crazy:
