I have to agree, that is a "BIG" gym! I'll post a pic of my biggest find soon- Great idea for a thread weiliiii!!!


This thing may not look that big but it weighed out to over 16 ounces....yummy!

No, my girlfriend and I stumbled across that thing in a State park while we were both...er...impaired.  We weren't prepared to lug it around with us or try to sneak it past the rangers.  It smelled delicious, though.

Over a month back I found some reddish-purple Tylopilus boletes about the size of those white Amanitas. Sadly, they were still very bitter even after a good boiling...However, I've found a mass of Hen-of-the-Woods a while back that was larger, if that counts.

Nearly 47 cm (19 inches) across.  On September 12th, 1992, I picked a five pound cluster of Gymnopilus aeruginosus, the largest mushroom was 10 inches in diameter.  It had a massive stem like Zorro's--4 inches in diameter.  I dried it and saved it, but threw it away a few years ago.  I still have an analog video of it.  Maybe sometimes I'll convert it and post the pic.

The largest oversized mushroom I ever picked was an Aborted Entoloma.  Their largest specimens are supposed to be as big as 4 inches.  I found one that was 8 inches wide, double the size they are supposed to be.  It was as wide as a dinner plate.  I have some analog pictures of that one too somewhere.

Those are some biggins!
Heres Mine, I think its a Chlorophyllum molybdite. I am surprised the stipe on this thing was able to hold up the cap. Hearty mushroom indeed.




Figured I'd also post my largest Weilii cluster as well.

That one was found in the fall of last year or the year before I can't remember exactly.

Around here the rain starts around late September. So damn near everything has to wait until the fall. Except Subbs since they get their water from the sprinklers around here.
There is not a DROP of rain for at least five months here in the valley.
Then it rains for four months straight.

I really hate this valley.
