Cluster 'o weilii

A nice small cluster of weilii. It seems they only really start to cluster up like this in the later part of the season. One of the mushrooms in this pic would have been huge! But something happened and it grew stupid and never reach its full potential. I think a mold is starting to grow in its kills, or maybe its been humid enough for spores to germinate :) I doubt it though.

I dont know if you brought these fine specimens home, but is there anyway you should put an object of reference for scale, or just let me know how big those twins are. darkfly

I wish I could think of something more clever to write as a signature.

newbie:" Cool, I think I found one of those, when I was on a hike in Yellowstone last spring! It was cool, cause they didn't look like the liberty caps that grow in my grandpa's garden back home in Oklahoma. The one I found turned blue like that one, but it didn't have stripes under the cap. It had spongy-loooking stuff under the cap. I was afraid to eat it, because I didn't know it was Sikadelick. I won't be so dumm next time! Is that the first time you found those, LK?" Hehe, I'm baaaaaaad! Stay cool and Be Weilii!-Levi7

i wouldn't eat the mushroom you referred to because it is not a weilii. they are not known outside of georgia.

Sometimes I lay something down for size comparison, but other times I want an all natural picture. These mushrooms were about 3 inches tall, and about 1/4"+ thick in the stems. They can get much bigger, and they can be very small. I've picked em with 5" caps, and I've picked em 3/4" tall, and a cap thats 1/4" wide.
