My friend is one of those bike messenger types, his favorite bike doesn't even have brakes and he can ride it backwards!

A fixed gear bike. They're all the rage with Brooklyn hipsters.

would you happen to know which album that song is on?
and yes those guys are crazy. Cyclists take a lot of shit, and those guys aren't helping by biking so aggressively and recklessly. But I have to admit, its pretty impressive the turns they pull and the squeezes they make.

That was awesome.

From my experience, judging the width of small spaces (e.g. going between two cars) while riding is the hardest part about riding in the city.

Looks like they were riding road bikes.  I would have thought a mountain bike would be more stable for taking super sharp turns/cuts etc.  I was even more surprised by the single speed.  I mean, I know single speeds are "hip" but if riding a bike were my job, I think I'd look for something more efficient.

...the whole experience is (and is as) a profound piece of knowledge.  It is an indellible experience; it is forever known.  I have known myself in a way I doubt I would have ever occurred except as it did.

...most subjects find the experience valuable, some find it frightening, and many say that is it uniquely lovely.

Have you ever ridden a fixed gear single speed?  You can get going pretty fast and maintain that speeed.  It's like the perfect gear size or something, if you only could pick one. I really don't know much of what I'm talking about, but I've ridden a few, and my friends have built a handful.  Some of these guys get hit by cars sometimes.  I wouldn't call it a racket, but...

Yeah I've almost been hit by those guys before. Is that the GW they are going over at the end? That's a long bike ride if it is... looks like they are starting in... central park?
