Great pictures Gumby.

Your raspberries look like thimbleberries, except they look like thimbleberry bushes with raspberry leaves. The thimbleberries I see have leaves that look like Maple leaves.

Workman beat me to it! Id say of an egret depending on whether or not water was nearby. I wonder if my cantharellus/trumpet hot spot is fruiting yet.

Must be a variant.

I never knew the other ones were called Thimbleberries.  I had an id guide that called them Raspberries and I have been calling them that ever since.  I learned something new!

Thimbleberrys are (Rubus parviflorus), what you have there are Wineberrys (Rubus phoenicolasius) which is an introduced species from Asia.  Both are considered a type of raspberry.

Must have been a big ass bird. Turkey perhaps?

There was water near by, but I've never seen Egrets in Jersey before. The bone seemed way to big for an Egret anyways. This was found near the base of a mountain about a mile from a lake.

Jersey hunters: where do you typically hunt for chants up here? I'm used to hunting in GA. Also, I've never found/picked Black Trumpets before, what should I look for when hunting for them?

Black trumpets can look like little holes in the ground.  Search for little black petunias that grow directly from the ground in healthy parts of the forest.

Could have been a great blue heron.  As for the black trumpets, i would say 98% of all my finds are in moss covered banks of streams and rivers, if you know the area, the Big Flat Brook, pretty much the entire length and its tributaries, from now until September after some rains, you should be able to find thousands, the moss makes them easier to spot but still difficult.  The true chanterelles should be there too in the mixed part of the forest with pines, oaks and beaches.

i dig the monotropa uniflora, one of my favorite myco-heterotrophic, achlorophyllous plants. they are fairly common in the pacific northwest and have specific myco-bionts. usually in the russulaceae family, well on the west coast anyways. great pics!!!
