Re: is suicide worth it? [Re: makaveli8x8]
    #7071745 -

I'll tell you a story that happened to me  in 05,I had broken up and moved in by myself to a whole new town, new state even.I was thinking what a good time I would have, new people, friends,no one knew about me or my past,I could really just reinvent myself. It was a hell of a thing to do,I was proud of myself, then I realised that being totally alone, for me,was not that great.

Then a depression set in,None of the new freinds I made really were the people I thought they were when I met them,I missed someone that I left in the other town,I had what I figured out was my first anxiety attack, feelings of suicide were running rampant throughout my days and nights, almost daily.I had an upstairs neighbor that had moved in right after me,he had a girlfriend visiting him on the weekends,a freind would come and go sometimes,we even smoked a bowl on 1 occasion.Seemed okay to me.

Then I noticed the girl stopped coming over,he stopped working,he wouldn't talk to me as much, but I did not think anything of these things because I was wrapped up in my own downward spiral.I had a birthday coming up and had a hit of blotter left over from bonnaroo,I also had met someone that wanted to take me out to sarrasota for the night to celebrate my B-day(they knew about the trip)so it was starting to look good.
We went to the beach, stayed at a nice place, great dinner, cool night out, excellent evening, something I haven't had in a while. The next day,we are pulling up the block to my place, the cops are there,I see the people upstairs pointing down to my place, indicating that I live there,I had just gotten stoned, coming down off acid and then I see this!
It turns out the guy committed suicide that night that I was at the beach, about 2-4 in the morning when I was actually snapping out of my bout of depression, needless to say that completely woke me up as to what actually happens when someone commits suicide and you witness it pretty much firsthand(close as I care to ever get)maybe there was a transferrence?.
My point is,no matter what is bugging you,it will get better, for most people anyway.Like someone posted earlier, life goes up and down, you are just at a down time for now.Get out and do something and try not to dwell too much on your problems.I am at a high point ,for now,but I can except the low parts a little better now after that experience.
P.S.  I asked how he did it and the police said he shot himself! His apt.was set up the same as mine, bedroom over mine the same way, even the bed in the same place, what if I had been there tripping in bed and a bullitt had come through the ceiling and killed me as well.It just snapped me out of that mindset for good.Hope this helps, thanks for reading this if anyone,or you have.(wow, felt good to tell you all that)

I had a friend who was born with severe fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) which, for those who don't know, if a birth defect caused when an expecting mother ingests too much alcohol during pregnancy.

He had contemplated suicide for many years as a teenager, because of facial deformities which caused him to be ostracized by peers.

He confided in me once that a counselor made him abandon that line of thinking by pointing out that suicide is the ultimate act of selfishness that a human being can make.

End your problems? More like create problems for others. People who take their lives are using a radical method of getting attention.

Read the posts in this thread to see what I mean. They are mostly ego-centric babble about pain and suffering and cruelty.

There are people who are really suffering. Some of them have taken their own lives, and it's tragic. But their solution is unacceptable, irrespective of the circumstances.

To believe otherwise is the mark of a shallow mind and a self-serving attitude.

those who love me, use me to the extent that it causes me harm, and they realize it causes me harm, but they use me anyways to fullfill there needs and wants.

it seems, everything that has been given to me, was given only in an attempt to get something in return.

I've been used my entire life to fulfill the needs of others, and all i see in my future is more and more of the same, its the circle of life i soppose:to be used.

Hey man i feel you, when i visit the shroomery, i see people reliving my life everyday. Well today i happened to realize the same thing you stated above. Its a depressing thing to think about but it made me feel better knowing theres others who deal with the same thing. We all have our own demons to fight everyday, i dont know how i get by day to day without putting my sidearm to my head and pulling the trigger. It might be all the pot i smoke, the pills i pop or the beer i drink, or the girl i like, but whatever gets you by day to day-do it. Cause in the end everything comes down to you, you have control of your life to make things better. You just gotta realize how to get there and while people like you and i have it alot harder finding that peace of mind, it will all work out i promise.

Gah knows i have to deal with a deadbeat dad everyday of my life since i was born. Thats ok though, cause when i do move out il never see nor talk to him again and im ok with that cause when hes old and cant walk and stuck in a nursing home, thats when il visit and tell him how far i made it now that im without him holding me back. Bah im getting all teared up later shroomery

You have to like compare the things you love in life, and the things that are making you feel this way. I love soccer, but my school gives me suicidal thoughts. I'm obviously not going into depth cause this isn't about me, and I wouldn't do it for attention, that's bullshit.

There has to be one person, or one thing pulling you through each day, and if you set your mind on that, and strive to reach the goals you set for yourself, you don't need anyone and you will have the ability to make yourself happy. It just depends what's most important to you, and if you just don't want to be alive anymore, end your life.

"Worthless?" "Selfish?" "Pathetic?" Man, that is so off base. People who commit suicide are tired. There is nothing more to it. All of those other things are irrelevant when it comes to being tired. It takes a lot of energy to be depressed all the time. It drains the very soul out of you. Sure, suicide is not the solution, as rational people can see. But rational people aren't tired from dragging their tired, depressed ass around all of the time. People commit suicide so they can rest.

Nice first post... hi welcome to the Shroomery.

Suicide IS selfish and pathetic. Being depressed or "tired" is no reason to kill yourself. Perhaps in some circumstances, where someone was in too much pain to go on living, I could see suicide being a completely understandable way of ending that constant suffering. But depression is a state of mind, a temporary one. Even severe and chronic depression... that lasts for YEARS.. is a state of mind. I know from experience.

I mean there is of course, exceptions to every rule. I'm sure there's probably a few instances where suicide would be appropriate. But in general.. it is for the weak. Rational people get tired and depressed too. But they don't go blowing their brains out because of it, because.. well, that's irrational.

It takes a lot more to go on living. But life is FOR living. It is well worth it though. Well worth it. I can't just make a blanket statement of suicide is stupid and uncalled for.. because well I haven't known everyone that has committed suicide and their reasons for doing it. But I have known 3 people that did it, and they ALL had something to live for, they just took the cowards way out, and left a mess for everyone else to clean up and nothing but pain in the their wake. I can't respect that. It is sad and tragic.

Life can be hard sometimes but it can also be really fucking good. Suck it up IMO. Take the good with the bad, everything is a learning experience. And it's a fucking rewarding experience to come out of the bad with your life still intact. We're all going to die anyway so what's the point of ending it early for a stupid reason?
