Age, The Past, And The Future. An Introspective.

I often think to myself, "I was born way to early"... I'll never see common space travel and the discovery of life in other
galaxies or the ability to transport matter molecularly, or flying cars, or holographic interactive television, etc.

I also think to myself "If only I knew then what I know now"... (of course everyone thinks that!)

I wonder if I were 12 years old now, instead of 48, would it be an advantage?

The disadvantage is the history I've witnessed first-hand that most kids today will never even know about.  Like some of the best
television shows and personalities that were so popular and hilarious, will fade into oblivion for todays kids.  They'll never
get to see all of the great performances and side-splitting comedy I've had the pleasure to see.  They'll likely never drive a
classic muscle car from the late 1960's or early '70's. (I owned a red 1969 Chevelle SS-396 w/a Muncie 4-speed, Hurst shifter,
Thrush side pipes, Hooker headers, 3.73:1 positraction rear end, and Crager SS 5-spoke chrome mag wheels with 60 series white
lettered radial tires.) That car was totally AWESOME!!!

Anyway, I know it's not possible to change history, but if I could have one wish, I guess it would have to be to have my youth back.
Yeah, I'd miss out what I've seen and done, but I guess what you don't know doesn't hurt.

The ultimate would be to be 12 and have my current knowledge. DAMN, if only science could do a brain transplant!! :lol:

Well, I've come full circle right there.

I often wonder the same thing.  I'm glad I was born when I was though because in the event that something goes horribly awry with human civilization at least I got to enjoy it for a while.

I often think about that too, but we are missing out on their youth, just as much as they are missing out on ours.

I doubt you're as old as I am, but don't you think when you're middle-aged it would be way cool to have your brain transplanted into a 12 year old body of a kid who's brain-dead?

Just think... If that were possible, you could do it over and over... Live as long as you want.

Yeah, I can understand that. Some people are very proud of their history and what technology they've seen developed and have experienced.

So am I, but science and technology are snowballing in speed and development.  Imagine what the future holds that you'll never see.

If I had my current technology at age 12, by now I'd be flying a car.  My user name on this board would be "George_Jetson". :lol:

i feel ya on the muscle car. i had a 1969 olds 442, 455 motor, dual gate shifter. twas awesome. what made it even better was $0.89 gasoline. i used to love to stay up to watch carson and ed do the tonight show. i think i was born at a good time, just after carter took office. now in my 30s, self employed, with a young boy and a girl due in a few months, there is no other time or place i would rather be.
