You can take prints on either glass, wax paper, or aluminum foil. Its all up to you. I recommend aluminum foil. Easy to use and it comes off the roil sterile. What does everyone else suggest for optimal printing surface? Ripper

Thanks Ripper, really i prefere to use wax paper because tinfoil it's not very resistant and glass/plexi are thick and not practical to hide between the pages of a book.. BTW thanks moderator.....are you trolling this forum right now? ------------------ Look at http://novenove.homepage.com/Honeytek.html for the liquidmycelium honeytek

i have found that zip lock bags are actually pretty good for taking prints: they are "sterile" when you get them, or damn near it.. and you can fill it with water to make the syringe.. im not saying its the best way, its just a way..

I have always worked with fresh cardstock, then wrapped in tinfoil with a grain of dessicant on the non print side of the card.

I say, goddamn, that's a good idea, Dyno. One could inject a syringe full of sterile water through a tiny opening in the seal, sqeeze the sides together to rub the spores off of the bag, draw the spore solution back up, and inject it into a half pint jar of sterile water to expand it into a huge amount of inoculum. That beats the hell out of trying to scrape spores off of the bottom of a jar. Thanks for the tip!

i do something similar with the gladware disposables. they are big enough to hold 4-5 caps at once for multi-print mixing (better to ensure strain strength) are microwaveable and one can push a needle right thru the plastic to make syringes. a little duct tape around the lid edge and stack 'em up.

To sterilize your wax paper just take a cloth with some rubbing alcohol on it and wipe the wax paper down with it.

Well, the best way to sterilize wax paper is to place it inside a canning jar (make sure you use a new lid) and boil or pressure cook the jar for a least ? hour. This way the wax paper stays sterile inside the jar(for years if needed) until you open it for use. Also, I of heard of people nuking wax paper in the microwave for a couple minutes to sterilize. But, be careful how long you nuke it for, because it burns easy.
