BJ penn WOULDNT get bruce lee down on the ground. thats the whole thing. bruce would pull out a backfist to the nose and BJ penn would cry while he bled to death from his nose bone cutting into his face. sorry. we should of made this into a poll.

only a tard would think bruce would win. bruce was working towards a system like MMA but he died too soon. lee would be wrestled and choked out fast.

Um i still say Bruce would have tore him up in the stand up... Dude could box, had Japanese jujitsu training, along with the kung fu, and his fucking cardio, and stamina was far better then BJ who at times was suspect...

The guys who i think best shows what Bruce would have been like are  Cung Le, and Machida .. Both unbeaten MMA fighters. Le  who uses Sanshou which is extremely close to JKD that Bruce created. And Machida  who uses Karate... Both are extremely hard to fight because in a stand up match you have no fucking clue what they will throw next.  Plus if memory serves me Lyoto Machida has beaten Penn before using that style of fighting.

The thing i am trying to express is the style of Jujitsu he learned does have wrestling, grappling and straight hand to hand fighting in it, so Penn ain't as dominating  in this match that people are crediting him with after you add up all the factors... But who the fuck really knows what Bruce knew, and put into his fighting..  Bruce was all about how to beat a man with whatever worked..

But well said that he died before MMA became a factor. So who cares... I am done with this... Bring on Fedor Vs Flabby.. :rotfl:

Bruce Lee did a lot of ground training as well. He was a big believer in cross training, he didn't concentrate on only one area of fighting. The crazy thing about him is the level of intensity to which he trained. He was like a man possesed. He turned his body into a coiled spring which could lash out in any direction with amazing power. I have never seen anything like him. He could easily break your leg with a single kick.

Wasn't bruce lee really interested in incorporating judo into his training?  I thought I read something to do with that awhile back.

Of course.  Bruce Lee was interested in incorporating ANY practical martial arts into his training, this is what made Bruce Lee so amazing and why he's a legend right now.  He was among the first of the martial arts masters to begin training with other masters in other disciplines.  Honor and pride are huge things in martial arts and most masters wouldn't bring themselves to become a "white belt" again so to speak to learn another discipline.  Bruce Lee didn't care about that and instead was driven to unify all styles of martial arts into the most deadly and effective combat system available.

Here's the thing - almost every currently used discipline and training method wasn't being used then.  Martial arts has picked up so much since the 1990's it's unbelievable, and truly at this point we have athletes at the top of their game using the best training methods and styles of martial arts effectively together.  Bruce Lee would be absolutely fantastic at all of this, but this information was just not available to him like it is to the fighters of today.

i mean, hands down, Bruce Lee would've taken Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme and Jason Statham in street fights. however, he wouldnt even do well enough climbing the LW UFC ladder to make it to BJ. on the off chance he did, he'd be crushed in under 3 minutes.

Jet Li has gold metals for wushu... don't be so sure.

Bruce Lee is also more than an actor he did create jeet kune do. You also can't be so fast to be like well Jeet Kune do isn't effective in the ufc so it wouldn't apply because Bruce Lee could probably apply it better.

I'd personally put cash on Bruce Lee but I'm not really sure how good of a fighter he is.

ye for those who don't know jeet kune do was based around mainly boxing and fencing.

bruce lee trained in all sorts of shit though, he's said to be pound for pound one of the strongest men in the world curling 80lbs 3 x, which would be like 110lbs once. his side kicks were appearently unmatched, insane cardio from hardcore biking in california, I'm not really sure how intensive his jujitsu training was but he started at the age of 22 according to wikipedia and he died when he was like 34?

this is taken from wikipedia.

Lee's striking speed from three feet with his hands down by his side reached five hundredths of a second.[49]
Lee could spring a 235 lb (107 kg) opponent 15 feet (4.6 metres) away with a 1 inch punch.[48]
Lee's combat movements were at times too fast to be captured on film at 24fps, so many scenes were shot in 32fps to put Lee in slow motion. Normally martial arts films are sped up.[50][51][52]
In a speed demonstration, Lee could snatch a dime off a person's open palm before they could close it, and leave a penny behind.[53]
Lee could perform push ups using only his thumbs[41][48]
Lee would hold an elevated v-sit position for 30 minutes or longer.[47]
Lee could throw grains of rice up into the air and then catch them in mid-flight using chopsticks.[41]
Lee performed one-hand push-ups using only the thumb and index finger[48][54][41][48]
Lee performed 50 reps of one-arm chin-ups.[55]
From a standing position, Lee could hold a 125 lb (57 kg) barbell straight out.[47][41]
Lee could break wooden boards 6 inches (15 cm) thick.[56]
Lee performed a side kick while training with James Coburn and broke a 150-lb (68 kg) punching bag[47][57]
Lee could cause a 300-lb (136 kg) bag to fly towards and thump the ceiling with a side kick.[48]
In a move that has been dubbed "Dragon Flag", Lee could perform leg lifts with only his shoulder blades resting on the edge of a bench and suspend his legs and torso perfectly horizontal midair.[58]
Lee could thrust his fingers through unopened steel cans of Coca-Cola, at a time before cans were made of the softer aluminum metal.[59]
Lee could use one finger to leave dramatic indentations on pine wood.[59]

Hard to say only because they are from 2 totally different time frames.
Lee would win, not hands down but he would win.
Much more naturaly skillful than BJ.
If it were Pound for pound slogs in the head and ribs, no doubt BJ would come out the winner.
BJ is an adapted fighter, which is vital to stay competitive today, Lee in that fact was not as vastly adaptable, though if Lee stuck round long enough, who knows what he could have achieved.
