Racer 5 IPA

This is prolly my favorite brew by Bear republic. mmmmmmm Hoppy. I just popped a bottle thats been sitting in my fridge for a couple days, waiting for justthe right moment, and here it is!

Yum.

While on the topic does anyone else notice sometimes when you first open a beer the small sometimes reminds me of bud. This is due to the hops correct?

have you tried samuel adams pale ale? my god that stuff tasty like fresh grass clippings, had to drain it

Racer 5 is pretty good. It's brewed in my hometown so I drink Bear Republic a lot. I'm a major hophead so I am real picky about IPA's. Have you tried any double IPA's? I recommend Stealhead, Ballast Point Dorado, or Left Coast Hopjuice.:thumbup:

Fractal duset_ Yeah ive tried the steelhead IPA, its scrumptions, ive only seen int in larg bottles though.

makaveli- Ive tried the souther hemisphere fresh hop ale, i made a thread about it a couple weeks ago and ive tried the liberty and the paulaner, both are excellent.

You know Anchor has a sumer ale out now! I gotta look for it.

Yeah, Racer 5 is pretty darn good when fresh.  I'm, SO glad that they started selling it in 12oz bottles a few months ago.  It used to be hard to find it fresh in the 22oz. bombers, but now that its in 6-packs its flying off the shelves around here.  The funny thing is, oz. per oz. its only like half the price it used to be now that its sold in 6-packs too.  A 22oz. bomber used to be $5.99 around here and now we get 6-12oz's for $9.99!  :smile:

It depends on what you mean.  If you mean it smells like some skunky bud, then no.  Skunkyness in beers means its gone bad by being light-struck. (exposed to UV rays)  If you mean it smells citrusy/grapefruity, then yes, that is due to to the hops.

Light struck beer sucks! Those florescent lights in the cooler at the liquor store will fuck good beer up. I recommend people support their local brewery and go fill up a couple growlers instead of getting sixers at the store.

if you like hops, try ruination by stone, it's an ipa and they probably use like 10 ounces of hops per bottle... needless to say, it's hoppy as shit, and smells like a perfume bottle when you open it, in a good way of course.

Are you my roommate? He has a fridge full of racer, and I just saw him go and get one.
WTF this is ridiculous, now I'm always going to suspect it.:awesome:

Definitely agree, support your local breweries!  :smile:

Though, if you go to a beer store that is really on top of their game and takes great pride in their beer selection and quality, they might actually have UV filters installed over the cooler flourescents.  Of course that is definitely not common practice, but some of the high end beer stores do install filters to protect the beers in the cooler from being light struck.  But that is assuming that it has not been exposed prior to arriving at the store, if it has, then the damage has already been done.
