I have very thick hair about 2.5" up the shaft. It literally just as thick as the rest of my pubic hair. I have heard that this can be caused by a circumcision stretching your pubic skin down onto the penis.
Regardless it's very thick, as many as 4 hairs coming out of what looks like one follicle. If I shave, im guaranteed to cut into my cock. I had a gf wax it once and it the hair was so thick that the skin ruptured and i started bleeding heavily.
Its terribly uncomfortable and i have actually decided to have it permanently removed with professional electrolysis.
Shaving your dick is a bad idea for many reasons, i found that i would normally shave before im going to have sex with someone. This is a bad thing, shaving thick hair like that can knick the skin, even un-noticeably. Open sores on your penis is a very very bad thing, you become way more susceptible to STDs if you have open sores on your skin.
In fact, a study was done in a small community in Africa, and they found be treating stds that don't leave open sores on the skin (herpes) and by educating the community about dry sex (leads to sores on the penis), they found a 85-90% decrease in the aids virus (don't remember the actual number).
What makes this particular problem even worse is that the sores are at the base of the penis, this is an area that is commonly exposed even when wearing a condom because the condom tends to slip up to just below mid shaft, leaving the sores exposed which is like a direct pathway to your bloodstream.
After you shave, you might notice ingrown hairs, these can lead to additional sores later down the road. I have found the whole process of shaving my dick an unbearable cycle, which is why im willing to invest in having that hair removed once and for all.
A lot of what i said only applies to people like me with hundreds of hairs on the shaft, if you actually have to ability to count the hairs on your dick than congrats to you, be thankful your not me.
