Those of you who think the elections are fixed

Why do you think this?  I see no evidence at all.  Sure, it's bullshit in that the elections are so politicized and are candidate driven rather than issue driven, but I can't think of a reason to say that we have "no choice."

I think "fixed" is too strong a word, but since you didn't restrict your question to the executive election, I think a perfect example of shaping election results would be the practice of gerrymandering.

I mean, it's a pretty clear-cut example, and it can't be argued as to its intent.

well part of it is how everything is setup.  even if the machines arn't rigged, the political system still is.  only the rich win.  which means the partys decide who wins, because they get to choice the runners.  so we have zero choice in who we elect, it was predetermined choice A. or choice B.

any you might mention ron paul and this could be viewed 2 ways. typically it would help my point, but im looking at it from yours to save a few posts.  So if you say ron paul gives us a choice C. and that he actually had/or is given a chance in this election, and that he isn't a pawn to just pull votes from free thinkers, he's still the poorest and therefore destined to loose. while the prime candidates are plastered on tv's, phone, internet, and have a nice fancy van with cocktails come pick you up and take you to the elections to vote.

its a bullshit game, and even if you say that the machines arn't rigged and the politic's arn't rigged, there's still a 3rd aspect to it all, the numbers game and how religion plays a roll in it all, but i won't even get into that just mention it for everyone to think about

Not too long ago, I saw a video on digg where a BBC reporter was having a conference. Basically he was discussing that a colleague of his had 500 deleted emails sent to him from Karl Rove's office, because a mix-up in the email address. (.org instead of .net or something) Basically in these emails were these spreadsheets titled CagingList, with lists of voters and certain information. Basically in these caginglists, the addresses are mostly military bases. The reason for this being that when a soldier over seas sends in his vote, it goes into the system with that address listed, the address of the military base. When officials see that some odd couple thousand people are submitting votes from the same address, they call the voter to verify that the vote is indeed legit, but since they're in fucking iraq, their votes count for nothing. There are some 3 million of these votes. And who do you think the soldiers are voting for? It's not going to be a war-mongering republican, I can assure you that much.

What the fuck ever happened to accountability, real democracy, and doing the right thing? Apparently all kinds of moral standards have completely gone right out the window in this country.

This is pretty much why I can honestly say that a few years from now, I will no longer call myself an American. Can any of you say that you're happy to subscribe to all of this shit? All of this corruption? The endless war? I mean, are you thrilled about your tax paying dollars going towards jets that drop fucking BOMBS on people who are no different than you or I? We're fucking 6 billion strong and we're letting the ruling elite push us around like fucking cattle, I don't understand how anyone doesn't get as pissed off as I am.

The elections might not be "prerigged" but they are manipulated without a doubt, not to harp on old issues, but Al Gore DID win the 2000 election. so you'll say that wasnt manipulated

Definitely, GWB won the last election for no reason other than the whole religion thing by bringing up the gay marriage issue over and over again before the election to gain the religious votes.  It worked like a charm too, he swayed enough religious voters over to his side to clinch the election that nobody thought he had a chance in simply on that one issue.

I see tons of evidence. Study the past two elections. Look into who builds the machines. Find out who's making the rules for the democrats.

All the candidates work for the same people GWB does anyway. (not the voters)

Yeah obviously there is bullshit going on, Gore did win the 2000 election and did not receive the presidency.  But that was something different from what I'm talking about.  I'm talking about how some people seem to believe that this two party competition is just a hoax, and that Obama and McCain are little more than actors in a play.
