USA Presidential elections 2008 -- tell us who you'll probably vote for and why!
    #7792720 - 12/23/07 02:12 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Try to win us over for your candidate, or discuss candidates or the elections in general.

And do vote in this poll. You do not need to be an US citizen to vote, but you got to have a clear informed opinion.

If you do not want to vote just check "none of the above" on all 8 counts. If you certainly won't vote for a particular party, also select "none of the above" for the offending party(s)

Let the vote commence and debate ensue!

.

Seriously, I'd expect that there'd be smalltime parties out there who'd want things like conform the constitution to biblical laws or stuff like that.

We have that kinda stuff in Holland, to my shame we even have a party that wants to deny women the vote on Christian grounds.

Have we all voted yet?

I mean I don't like them, one bit, but given it's a political movement they ought not be excluded from the democratic process.

aparently it is legal, I was considering running for a political office a few years back and in
the application it stated very plainly that they were forbidden to run, why do you think none
of these neo-nazis has had a candidate,

Odd. It's contrary to the American way as I understand it.

Up until compiling this poll I had always assumed there'd be some kind of fringe Nazi party in the American elections with one or two candidates who got their first air time at the Jerry Springer show or something.

Was the clause intended to weed out any parties that seek to abolish democracy, or was it specifically anti-Nazi?

There's no United Minorities Party also.. How hard is it to run for office? What are the requirements? There'd be a million candidates if it was easy methinks. I know Timothy Leary went for it in his days.

I'm not pro-Ron Paul, nor am I against him. I'm a foreigner who knows too little of the situation by my own estimate, so I voted None Of The Above on all counts. If I were an American I'd get the facts though and find the candidate that'd suit my ideals best.

Personally I don't think Ron Paul will be elected, but I also don't think America would elect a woman (Hillary) or a black man (Obama) as the president. There's just too much conservativism going around, regardless of what candidates might stand for.

I'm completely in the dark who your next president will be.

Im not aware of any other canidates that support offshore drilling/ alaska drilling. But then again, Im a democrat/ independent. I will be voting for Barack Obama. I can get over the fact that he is African American and realize that he brings the best chance of hope.

See I really dont believe so, IF they would legalize Hemp as a crop we could easily use hemp as a biomass fuel. Not to mention ethanol although I know we already have a shortage in corn anyways. I just feel their are plenty of alternative energy sources, but the oil industry is content on making their money.

Hemp can't enough.

Quote:

Currently, the United States consumes 19.6 million barrels per day, of oil, which is more than 25% of the world's total. The rate of consumption for oil is increasing at a rate of about 2% yearly.

19.6 M x 365.25 = 7,16 billion barrels a year

Hold that number. Now multiply by 200

1.43 trillion liters of oil a year.

Okiedokie, now times umph please

14.300.000.000.000.000.000 calories of energy.

Thats 14.3 billion billion calories.

Do you seriously think the US can conjure up two trillion liters of biodiesel and ethanol every year? That would be equivalent to raising a crop that can feed 20 billion people for a year. Do you think American farmers rock that much that they can raise a crop that could feed 3 times the world's population? Sorry, no.

That's what it boils down to. We have got to bring fusion energy plants into our world, so far it's our only hope. Until then, fight the energy crisis with everything you got. You may hate nuclear power plants as much as the next guy, but we direly NEED them to bridge the gap until we have tamed fusion and commercially exploit it to meet most of our energy needs.

Nuclear --> DT fusion --> DD fusion

It's the only shot we've got at retaining our technology, living standard, and population.

Its probably a thing that will be carried out by whoever takes office. The oil/energy crisis is a very serious one. Dependence of the USA on Middle-Eastern oil is also considered a serious problem.

Simply state you're against it if you're put on the spot, but when push comes to shove later on do an 180 degree turn. Its the oldest political trick in the book.

Remember hearing about the patriot act, passed through with just a couple days notice, no
one read its some 400 pages, no one checked the history of the bill, do you think this sort
of thing would be uncommon? it's not, a more popular method is to attach a rider to
budget, education, medicine and even conservation bill... imagine voting for a bill that would
make 'green energy' into the only acceptable form but in the fine print they have 900 years
to comply and all oil reserves must be depleted

i'd like ron paul to win just to see what would happen.

out of the "realistic" candidates i'd like obama to win.

i think there is a 90% chance gulliani will win no matter who the democrats put up.

anybody but mitt romney.

I can't vote because I'm a felon, but if I could, I'd vote for Ron Paul. In any case, my vote wouldn't matter - shit's rigged anyways. Liberal, Conservative, Democrat, Republican - it's all 2 sides of the same coin.

I will be voting for Kucinich in the primaries.

Why? He is the most grounded, consistent, compassionate and logical candidate running. Period.

Once the real election rolls around, I will be voting for whoever is running for the Dems.

I'm no Hillary fan, but we've had presidents with quite a bit less experience than Mrs. Clinton.

Kucinich is kind of an idiot who believes in gun prohibition and reperations for slavery. His only saving grace is he is smart enough to be anti-drug war. He fails to see the logic that banning guns is not only unconstitutional, but would fail JUST LIKE DRUG PROHIBITION. Reperations is just plain retarded frankly.

On the Prohibition Party: before the last election I read an article in the paper from one of these 'tards. Their whole platform is alcohol prohibiton. Thats a really THIN platform to run for FUCKING PRESIDENT. and by the way, it never worked. How the fuck can you be pro temperence 70 fucking years after we tried it last time? Why do these assholes even waste their time?

Nazi Party: Shouldnt they be allowed to run whether I agree with their views or not? the fucking prohibition party can run, I think thats unconstitional. They have the right to free speech and just because I don't agree with them, doesn't mean they should not be allowed to say it.

After having to wait 2 and a half hours in line to vote because the State Government (Colorado) fucked something up that caused the delay, I will never vote again. And they wonder why people don't want to vote. I had nothing else to do and wanted to at least TRY to get proposition 100 some support. For the record we didnt lose that vote nearly as bad as they thought we would. Its all about small victories in the War Against The War on Drugs.

Many people around the globe and in history would cheer at the ability to vote with a cost of a few hours in line. Think of the things black americans had to do a few generations ago in order to vote.

I used to be Green until I met a bunch of Nader Raiders at some protests. I'd talk with them about differnet ideas on certain situations and they seemed insulted that I didn't believe in the most hardcore socialist ideas they were fighting for. They had no room for comprimise or to admit that other parties had descent ideas...

So I had no more tolerence for them.

We were at a protest outside of a hospital in LA that was closing because it was going bankrupt because it spent all it's money on emergency services for illegal aliens. The green party keeps bitching and moaning about how we have to provide emergency services for illegals but then protests the consequences of such actions.

99% of the people living in the Green party are living in a dream world.

I switched to Libertarian.

The Green Party in the US would be better represented as the Red Party. It tends to attract a lot of socialists who have no idea about the global Green Movement.

I'd agree with you except for Obama. He's a puppet candidate like the rest... maybe just not so much as the rest though.

If I ended up having to vote for a Democrat this year (which rarely happens, except the repub candidates this year might force me to) I'd rather it be Obama though... he may have socialist ideas, but at least it's not COMMUNIST like Hillary Edwards.

The latter two seem to think FORCING PEOPLE by law to have health insruance and fining people who don't get it.. is the solution to the problem because they're too chicken shit to use the phrase "socialized health care".

I give Obama credit for being direct about his intentions and not trying to hide them like pussy ass hilary or edwards.

If Ron is the repub nominee, him hands down. If any other candidate is the repub nom, I might end up voting for a democrat this year, unless that democrat is Hilary. I'd rather vote for Hitler than her.

Since there seems to be an overwhelming amount of support for Ron Paul, here is some good info for you patriots!

Candidates get alot of media coverage from how much money they raise. Ron Paul has pulled in record donations to his campaign from his supporters especially online. There is another MONEYBOMB dontation on 1/21/07. http://www.freeatlast2008.com/ WE DONATE ALL AT ONCE

Lets do it again! This one is on January, 21, 2007. All the info can be found out at www.freeatlast2008.com

Ron Paul because of weed and stuff

After one comes, through contact with it's administrators, no longer to cherish greatly the law as a remedy in abuses, then the bottle becomes a sovereign means of direct action.  If you cannot throw it at least you can always drink out of it.  - Ernest Hemingway

If it is life that you feel you are missing I can tell you where to find it.  In the law courts, in business, in government.  There is nothing occurring in the streets. Nothing but a dumbshow composed of the helpless and the impotent.    -Cormac MacCarthy

He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God.  - Aeschylus
