I'm not pro-Ron Paul, nor am I against him. I'm a foreigner who knows too little of the situation by my own estimate, so I voted None Of The Above on all counts. If I were an American I'd get the facts though and find the candidate that'd suit my ideals best.
Personally I don't think Ron Paul will be elected, but I also don't think America would elect a woman (Hillary) or a black man (Obama) as the president. There's just too much conservativism going around, regardless of what candidates might stand for.
I'm completely in the dark who your next president will be.

Im not aware of any other canidates that support offshore drilling/ alaska drilling. But then again, Im a democrat/ independent. I will be voting for Barack Obama. I can get over the fact that he is African American and realize that he brings the best chance of hope.

Most probably will be. You guys need the oil, the economic boost, and to increase your independent position in acquiring primary energy.

See I really dont believe so, IF they would legalize Hemp as a crop we could easily use hemp as a biomass fuel. Not to mention ethanol although I know we already have a shortage in corn anyways. I just feel their are plenty of alternative energy sources, but the oil industry is content on making their money.

Hemp can't enough.
Quote:
Currently, the United States consumes 19.6 million barrels per day, of oil, which is more than 25% of the world's total. The rate of consumption for oil is increasing at a rate of about 2% yearly.
19.6 M x 365.25 = 7,16 billion barrels a year
Hold that number. Now multiply by 200
1.43 trillion liters of oil a year.
Okiedokie, now times umph please
14.300.000.000.000.000.000 calories of energy.
Thats 14.3 billion billion calories.
Do you seriously think the US can conjure up two trillion liters of biodiesel and ethanol every year? That would be equivalent to raising a crop that can feed 20 billion people for a year. Do you think American farmers rock that much that they can raise a crop that could feed 3 times the world's population? Sorry, no.
That's what it boils down to. We have got to bring fusion energy plants into our world, so far it's our only hope. Until then, fight the energy crisis with everything you got. You may hate nuclear power plants as much as the next guy, but we direly NEED them to bridge the gap until we have tamed fusion and commercially exploit it to meet most of our energy needs.
Nuclear --> DT fusion --> DD fusion
It's the only shot we've got at retaining our technology, living standard, and population.

Its probably a thing that will be carried out by whoever takes office. The oil/energy crisis is a very serious one. Dependence of the USA on Middle-Eastern oil is also considered a serious problem.
Simply state you're against it if you're put on the spot, but when push comes to shove later on do an 180 degree turn. Its the oldest political trick in the book.

Remember hearing about the patriot act, passed through with just a couple days notice, no one read its some 400 pages, no one checked the history of the bill, do you think this sort of thing would be uncommon? it's not, a more popular method is to attach a rider to budget, education, medicine and even conservation bill... imagine voting for a bill that would make 'green energy' into the only acceptable form but in the fine print they have 900 years to comply and all oil reserves must be depleted

I can't vote because I'm a felon, but if I could, I'd vote for Ron Paul. In any case, my vote wouldn't matter - shit's rigged anyways. Liberal, Conservative, Democrat, Republican - it's all 2 sides of the same coin.

I will be voting for Kucinich in the primaries.
Why? He is the most grounded, consistent, compassionate and logical candidate running. Period.
Once the real election rolls around, I will be voting for whoever is running for the Dems.
