ID request

Habitat: Wood. Wood-chips.

Gills: Gills are gray to light purple. Not sure if they are free!? Looks as though some gills are free and some are attached. then they completely separate with age.

Stem: off white just under cap, just under annulus the stalk is darker brown/tan becoming whiter towards the bottom.

Cap: Not hygrophanous. Lightly wine colored turning more brown in time. Fibrous in appearance more so near cap margin.

Spore print color: Dark purple, almost black.

Bruising: No color change was observed.

Location: Pacific North West.

I want it to be Stropharia rugosoannulata!

I think you are right. Check the upper surface of the veil for striations/grooves and check the base of the stem for rhizomorphic threads. (i just looked at the pictures again and can see rhizomorphs)

Thanks george. Unfortunately I am nowhere near where I found these and do not have any more intact with me. So, cannot check for the striation on the veil. But next time I run across this patch i will check.
