Is there a program that overwrites all free space on a hard drive?

I'm looking for a program, preferably one that runs on windows, that can overwrite all free space on a hard drive. Basically, one that does the equivalent of secure delete (overwriting all free space with 0s) but over an entire drive, leaving linked space intact.

Any such programs out there?

I'm going through customs through with my laptop and want to erase any traces of mischief in case I get spot searched.

get truecrypt, google it, it's free and encrypts everything on your harddrive.
