Other than the note that Lepiota brunnescens has been found at two separate NAMA forays, I cannot find anything on it on the net or in my books. From the name we can presume that it will bruise brown (which would disagree with your description), but that may be in age, also.

As far as Lepiota roseatincta, I found a Lepiota roseotincta in Smith with the following description:

Pileus 2.5-4 cm, convex or disc flattened, appressed fibrillose, slightly squamulose near margin, the disc and fibrils along with the squamules pinkish red; context white, unchanging. Gills close to crowded, white or flushed pink near cap margin. Stipe 3-5 cm x 3-5 mm, +/- clavate and tapered to a point below at times; surface staining like the pileus; annulus with scattered pink fibrils on lower surface. Spores 7-10 x 4-5 microns, narrowly subovoid. Cheilocystidia 36-48 x 9-14 microns, fusoid-ventricose. Cuticle a layer of irregularly arranged hyphae 8-15 microns diam. Clamp connections absent. Gregarious on vegetable debris such as compost piles or very rich humus, early fall, Michigan, rare.

Since this species doesn't bruise, it's not correct; the question is whether it's the same as the one in Arora (is one a typo, or are there two species).

When I key it out in Smith I get to Lepiota castanea. Other than your specimens being bigger than described, the description is not terrible. I suspect that you've found some unusually robust L. castanea, or a close relative which I don't have in any of by books.

Definitely interesting specimens.

Lepiota Ignivolvata? Euro-Orange, except stem does have a orange veil ring. Stem becomes orange-tinged with age. Orange-Brown cap surface breaks into delicate scales.
What does it smell like?

Cheers Mr Mushrooms....that ravine sounds like heaven, I have a few places like it across the river in Quebec...little pieces of myco heaven. Cheers again

"...I found dozens of single specimens.  That's what I call hunting.  There are only a few "good" hunters here, even now.  You're certainly in that group.  I would imagine if we hunted together we'd find our styles are similar."
- Mr. Mushrooms

RIP Matt, your friendship and your contributions to the world of fungi will be missed. Unfortunately we never got to hunt together.
