Mozart's Reqiuem

This is probably one of my favorite arrangements. I don't think I've ever heard anything so incredible, sober or not.

For those that care, this is is free to download to all because the music and performance are outside of the scope of DMCA and all that other trite bullshit. Share with friends, listen at your leisure. My favorites are the Kyrie and the Lacrimosa, but I'd like to hear your opinions on this. Please listen all the way through before posting out of respect for the music.
For those that are curious, this was recorded by the Berlin Philharmonic in 1971 - Mozart's Requiem in D Minor, K. 626

It's absolutely brilliant. The Lacrimosa is the most brilliant musical passage ever played. This piece actually made me a classical music fan (now I'd say at least 25% of the music I listen too is classical). Interesting note I think the Requiem needs to play with a passion and a reckless abandon much like punk rock. If it's done correctly it's amazing how subversive and counter-culturish it sounds. I think this piece and specifically the Lacrimosa is classical's version of punk rock. Along with such composures as Grieg or Prokofiev. Another cool note is the hidden history of the song. Apparently there's a theory that Mozart was assassinated in this time and this piece was written and bunched up by at least a dozen other musicians. Although I think it does sound a little out of character for Mozart it still has the familiar evidence that makes me think it is Mozart's work or at least a fair majority of it.

Anyway that was my impression of music snob. But yeah I love the requiem.

The FLAC version beats the shit out of flv... if you want to hear what it's supposed to sound like, I'd recommend some good speakers or earphones and the link I pasted above.

There's a lot of theories out there about it, only some appear on wikipedia, other exist entirely in peers speaking with peers. I take it for what it is. Incredible.
