I assure you it makes 0 difference if its on the ground or hanging from a flag pole. Its nearly impossible for cakes(im assuming your doing cakes) to contam after their in the terr. The only way they can contam is if trichoderma(green mold) was already inside it and surfaced while in the terr.

contams fly all over teh place in teh air. now if you said that 90% of contams are laying on the floor i could realte with that. place your terrarium anywhere but on the floor; because simply moving the terrarium accross the floor will stir up the majority of contams back into the air. think of your situation; if your room is only at about 68-70 degrees you might wanna try palcing the terrarium up high in a closet to collect as much heat as possible; whilst if your room is excessively warm (over 75) then its only going to be hotter up top of your closet.
and like matts said: 'whatever works'. wherever you put it; just make sure conditions are ideal. being on the floor just makes you more prone with any given situation; still 100% possible though.
also in regards to: once it's colonized, it's hard to contam
that is true to some extent but depending on your casing layer and the pH of it (especially when using peat moss) it will only take one hair folicle to come off your eyebrow or head while youre overlooking your casing to spread a good deal of green mold in 24 hours. especially with a high pH and excessive moisture content.

Actually the floor can be the dirtiest place in your house.
I think some people get contams from having fruiting chambers on the floor.
I always have mine raised up off the floor.
