Scanning Electron Microscope - Bay Area Actives

I have access to a Scanning Electron Microscope and was recently able to examine the spores of numerous active species. Below are images of actives I found here in the Bay Area.

Psilocybe cyanescens:





Psilocybe cyanofriscosa:





Panaeolus subbalteatus:





All images are from gill fragments at 1800, 30000, and 100000x.

Thanks to Alan and various members, I also have images of Gymnopilus luteofolius, Psilocybe subaeruginascens, Ps. caerulescens, Ps. mexicana, Ps. ovoideocystidia, Ps. pelliculosa, Ps. stuntzii, Ps. zapotecorum, Ps. villarealli, Panaeolus cyanescens, Incocybe calamistrata, Pleurotus ostreatus, and maybe a few others.

I have high resolution images that I can make available to anyone who is interested. Just pm me.

Great images! The germ pores become really obvious this way. I seem to have a hard time convincing people that's what they're seeing through a microscope sometimes.

Is there any way to keep the spores from collapsing? That's the only distracting thing in these images. Other than that, they are perfect.

I'm not sure.  The collapsing was likely caused by the vacuum that is used for the SEM and it occurred in all specimens. :shrug:

Wow! Great images, I really had no idea what spores looked like.
The best microscope I have access to is a 100x confocal. I doubt it's even worth trying :frown:

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
