Does anyone know waht areas flurish in mushroom growth? or like can you make a map of the US where they do? I live in far north part of Utah do active mushrooms grow around my area? Cause ive been hunting a few times in the forest and in some fields with cows and horses and what not. and ive found only Pure white non-active im sure mushrooms. a few of them grow in my front yard. but nothing to defying. does anyone have any info on this? im not asking for a feild or anything just wanna know if they grow around my area so i dont waiste my time once a day every week to try and find them. im very interesting in hunting and i go alone, cause my friends think hunting a hoax. i eat mushrooms once or twice every 2 months. and i enjoy the time i do. so please dont call this post a flame or a newbie post. just want to know.

The probable main reason there are not data points in Utah is that there has probably not yet been a detailed study of the mycoflora of the area. Much of the western part of the US has not yet been studied in detail. To see what might be present, look at the areas in nearby states with similar habitat. Learn what specific habitats those mushrooms like, and how to identify them. Then go look.
Right now, this part of the country is in a drought, so you probably won't find much. You will need to concentrate your searching around water sources.
Just because a mushroom is not reported (yet) in an area does not mean that it doesn't occur there. During an average rainfall year I find at least five species which have never previously been found in Colorado. The majority of people who look for mushrooms look for the big and obvious specimens. If you allow yourself to look for the smaller ones you will find things that nobody in the area has ever found before.
-------------------- Happy mushrooming!

Uh dude... Is english your native language or are you really that bad at spelling?
The only possible mushroom that I could think of is Paneolus subbalteatus. Other than that, you'd be better off growing in Utah.

Hello Shockey, Welcome to Mushroom Hunting.
Utah is unfortunately not the greatest location for psychoactive Shrooms.
So i'll tell ya dude, you would be wasteing you time if it is psychoactive mushrooms that you seek in your state.
Shrooms like these places; British Columbia Washington Oregon California
Hawaii
Texas Louisianna Alabama Mississippi Georgia Florida
Quebec Nova Scotia
Sorry to dissappoint ya..
Might think about giving outdoor cultivation a try.
