Yellow cacti.

Im guessing this is due to lack of water. Am i right. How long will it take for it to turn back to that lovely green?

Too much sun. Put it in the shade and it should be fine.

Lack of nutrients too, people say cacti dont need nutrients. But they really do. By the looks of the soil and stump i would say that cactus has been in that pot for a couple years? There is no nutrients left in soil.

Its time for a re-pot. Bigger pot + potting mix + a handful of sheep shit a few inches above the bottom and your cacti will be lookin healthy as in a couple months.

It looks like you have them in direct sun. That will yellow them every time. Lack of water will cause them to look more shriveled.

I'd put them somewhere where they could get a few hours of morning sun and the rest of the day shade.

did it get really cold? i have seen cold temps do that. usually too much sun adds white to it with the yellow.

generally too much sun will yellow a pedro, but a short one, going THAT yellow on all sides, even at the base where it is getting filtered light..... the problem isnt overexposure. im thinking magnesium deficiency or something. its an old plant, in a small pot, re-pot it in rich well-drained soil, topdressed with more than an inch of manure.

water with hard water, or just take water and mix in some epson salts.

it should bounce back, that doesn't mean it will turn green, but new growth should be the right color (and grow fast)

You might also want to replace the top couple inches of soil with new compost and get rid of the weeds. It helps every once in a while to replace old soil with new.

Alright, i just got that cactus from my friend because he said he was done with drugs. But ill change the soil and change its enviroment. thanks.

drugs is such a dirty word for such a healing and sacred plant teacher.
to me "drugs" either come in plastic bottles and have many adverse side effects or are very addictive and ruin lives.

Precisely, drug is just a term meant to demonize substances which are "harmful and KILL you" which.... is everything other than alcohol and cigarettes, although those are bad for you too.
One day my prized cacti will provide me with spiritual guidance, but untill that day, its just my pretty house plant. once again, i don't grow them for drugs :P

It's supposedly stress, underwatering, and age that can cause higher alkaloid content. I doubt yellowing would make any difference.

There are also certain chemicals that you can inject into the cactus to help higher Mesc content. I've never tried either but I've never killed my cactus to consume. I tend to get to attached to them.

I've only eaten San Pedro once and it was bought from cutting and it tasted so Horrible I couldn't finish it.
