where can i get "cacti compost"
    #4718621 - 09/27/05 06:06 AM (11 years, 2 months ago)

Ok so I need to make up some peyote soil quick like. I was told a 65% perlite 35% "organic compost" mix is a good choice, with some minus grade limestone from lowes.

Ok well i have all that i need but the "organic compost". I am in the US, where can easily find this compost? Anybody have specific brands or ingredients the look for?

And how much limestone do you guys suggest i use?

Thanks verry much!! I'll put up a pic of my new loph as soon as i can.

Compost is rotted plant matter. Soil for potted plants is usually 100% compost.

Soil for cacti and succulents has less nutrients in it than regular potting soil, as these plants have adapted to living in nutrient poor environments.

Just ask at the local flowershop / gardening supply store for cactus soil and they should give you the right stuff. Don't use regular potting soil, as it is too rich in nutrients and may burn your cactus.
