Transplanting Bamboo
    #8279770 -

So I got this bamboo plant for a present a few years ago, and it hasn't died yet! It's actually getting huge, and I want to provide more room for its roots. My problem is that it is not planted in soil, but a glass container filled with marbles and water. Not exactly marbles, but some kind of glass aquarium rocks...

Is there any way I can "transplant" this bamboo into a larger container without pissing off the roots to the point of death?

Thanks for any replies!

clear glass is bad to grow it in, you will want a dark colored container to grow it in to prevent algae from taking over the roots/water.

i use a black plastic vase and mine are going nuts, but i tried a glass before that and they started dieing slowly and the inside of the glass was all algae/slime once a week.

good luck

lucky bamboo aint bamboo   it's draceana, so you should be able to repot in soil pretty easy.  it grows in the ground on farms here quite easily   pot it up and give it a drink

So it shouldn't piss off the roots too badly if I dump the rocks out and stick the sucker in a new pot?
