It's not that it works for them it is just that they have never known anything different.

After 5000 years of having the ruling classes drum submission into their heads and culture it has become ingrained.

I'm not saying that our way is the good way and theirs is bad, but it is naive to think that all chinese agree with this system. A lot of them have no clue of what is going on.

It is also naive to think that the current system in the U.S. and the rest of the world , libertarian capitalism , is the ultimate system to which humanity will stick 'till the end of time.

You have to look at it from the Chinese point of view too. They are a very ancient and proud culture , and they have not always been treated nicely by foreigners : Opium wars , which lead to a domination of China by the colonial empires , The Boxer revolution that was stopped by colonial powers. Japan that had it's way with China in WWII.

Of course , the government is strict , It's authoritarian, not communist , but it happens to be the most effective way to pull the country to a dominant position in the capitalist world. They have an average of 8-9% growth each year , compared to around 2% for most Occidental countries ( I believe).

And about Tibet , you can be sure that there are bigger injustice than a country that was invaded in 1952 and still wants its Independence. The cause just happens to be more present in the media here, compared to the genocides happening daily ( Sudan).

just my 3 cents

That's a submissive mentality that people who do not agree with Chinese policy will not easily condone.

Furthermore that sounds like appeasement. Have you heard of the 1936 Olympics in Berlin?

This is a good reason to boycott the games in my opinion: link. NSFW GRAPHIC PHOTOS.

It's wrong to bring politics into the Olympics at all. The Olympics are supposed to be a celebration of athleticism.

i dont think most chineese people exactly wanna be ruled under their unfortunate system of gov. but i couldn't be completely sure because i haven't talked to them.

the point is why punish the people for the bad actions of the government

its like punishing all males for the minority of men that are rapists

but what do i know
