Karo Tek Question

Hey guy need your help with this Karo Tek that i have yet to get to work.

I am following this tek: Karo Tek

the problem I'm having is that when i place my container in the microwave with the plastic wrap around the top it ends up expanding in the microwave like a bubble... i feel like this isn't suppose to happen?

when i then tried this same tek without the plastic wrap and only an injection hole on the top of the lid WITHOUT tape allowing to vent the lid will always pop off.

I believe my microwave is 1200watts... i tried to wave at 50% power and the lid will still pop off at 3 min.

Also... iim trying to do this without a PC since i have a 6 QT PC that only has a rocker with no gauge on it and seem to have difficultys getting my Karo to not carimilize since i cannot know when im at 15 PSI. I wanted to get a head start untill i get my 16 quart next paycheck.... so my only means are a microwave and a good ol' pot.

any insight would be very helpful. I was thinking of using some glad ware TWIST N SEAL the kind with a tread on the top so it wont pop off. THANKS in advance for any insight on this.
