How much higher are you claiming? I would bet that it would be nominal at most.

I wasn't really trying to claim anything or state anything concrete.  I just figured that if you had say well water with lots of minerals in it, or something maybe it could at least be contributing to Boomin's friend's troubles.

If it did anything, it wouldn't even be enough for you to measure.

I think it wouldn't raise the boiling point of water since its just a solution and not chemically bonded to the water molecule to alter its properties. The boiling point should stay still at 212 but you would be left with saltwater after the evap. just my op.

Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

It does affect it measurably mickey, I know this from chem class in HS. Here is a link that shows this. And this is with only adding one compound.

I have no clue , but perhaps my question to Mickey may shed some light .

Mickey ............... Does grade or quality matter ? i.e. light , dark , types of sugars used to make syrup etc........ effect how they react to boiling .
Also could over exposure (too long of time ) to boiling cause carmelization ?
Time exposed , not temp exposed to .

But I agree with common sense statement about quantity used ......... the more sugars you have present in mixture (dilution levels) the more likely they are to bind together forming crystals . Carmelization usually comes from.... to high of a temp , not quantity of sugars .

Any information I give is not intended to aide you in the production of potentialy illegal substances !None of my exp comes from growing illegal varities , so take it as you will .
So with that said here is our mission statement .

I also found this link with a good explanation of why it happens.

From the link:
A mole of particles elevates water's boiling point by 0.52 degrees Celcius.
Measurable, yes, significant, no.

It's quite possible there is much more than one mole of particles in the water.
Measurable, yes, significant, perhaps not but since he was doing everything else right and still having problems, might as well explore all possibilities, right?

I told my friend to use 1/2 tsp instead of a whole tsp, he said it worked.  Pcd it for 20 min. It came out clear as when it went in!  Thank you very much Mickey.

Yeah it's yellowed after it comes out of the pc. The sugar has started to cook. I read that this can cause the myc to mutate and grow abnormally. I read this in Nan's karo tek. The reason for the karo is so the solution is clear and contams can be identified. Will just boiling the solution kill all the contams? Instead of pcing. I dont think it is possible to exceed the 15 lbs of pressure with my pressure cooker. It uses a weight that is suppossed to keep it at no more than 15 lbs.

just a friendly tip for those growing mycellia in liquid-
the addition of about 1/4 teaspoon of yeast nutrient will substantially increase the growth of mycellia beyond normal.
it's well worth your effort.

It seems a bit excessive to go pressure cooking water (with a dash of honey) anyway. If it doesn't work for you then just boil. Boiling will do anyway. In the case of substrate sterilization sure, but we're talking about a bit of H20.
