Going to the hospital today.
    #8268403 -

I think I have a hernia. :frown: Wish me luck.

Good luck!!

I'm going to the hospital too today, but it'll be a happy visit, for once. I get a cast removed on my left hand, I can hardly wait.

I'm tired of typing one handed, although I'm sure my right wrist doubled in size

Hope it's a false alarm.

I've had a hernia and it was excruciating!

All organs and tissues are wrapped in membranes and or muscles to separate them from the rest.

A hernia is when an organ or tissue sticks out through a hole in that muscle or membrane.

Practically any part of your body can herniate and it is nearly always very painful.

GL man, hope you don't have one.

Hit my head during work the other day, was holding a keg, muscles slacked on the keg, dropped the keg (it was an empty keg but those fuckers are still heavy) suddenly felt a tug in my stomach. Touched my hand to it, fell to one knee, it didn't hurt, just felt supremely wrong. I could feel something sticking out.

Lifted my shirt, could SEE something sticking out. Not good. Later.

Damn, that is a typical hernia injury and a typical place for one too.

If it is one I hope it is an easy one to sort out.

I've been living with a hiatal hernia (a hernia in the diaphgram wall that divides your torso and chest.) for a couple years now. It's not bad enough to require surgery, but it is bad enough to cause that "something simply feels very wrong." feeling whenever I am not extremely weary of my eating habits. For better or worse, I have had to learn to live with that feeling and the associate anxiety.

I wish you luck with your disagnosis... hopefully it's an easy fix and you won't have to deal with that feeling long.

The doctor at the E.R. was a prick. he gave me a speech on not taking medical advice from "lay people" and seemed to have me down from the get-go as some sort of WebMD hypochondriac. I sympathize, he probably has to deal with lots of those. But he gave me attitude I did not deserve. He examined my abdomen and where I described the thing happening and he did not feel any abnormalities and said it was quite unlikely that I had a hernia. Yet am I not completely comforted, because his attitude could have precluded him from finding something he thought from the beginning was not going to be there.
