Re: Who wants to school a fitness noob? [Re: ohmatic]

youre metabolism slows down after 8. again, ask a nutritionist, you should not be eating after 8pm. obviously small healthy snacks wont hurt you, but you should not be eating full meals after this time. not only does the metabolism slow, but youll be sleeping with a half full stomach of food.

That will be digested.

Logging isn't really a waste of time. It takes one or two minutes out of my day with fitday.

this is complete ridicule and saying that this applies for everybody is even more crap.

any eating does not slow down your metabolism, it does quite the contrary.

your "knowlege" is very faulty.

never said eating slows down your metabolism, i said eating smaller amounts more frequently speeds up your metabolism. you can claim its wrong all you want, ask any body builder and weight trainer.

and again, think what you think, eating after 7-8 pm for most people is not good for your metabolism, as this is when most people are winding down and stopping most physical activity. eating while resting adds unnecessary stress on the body, the intestines are not working at full peak and most of the food you absorb is not used for anything except for energy storage. obviously there are exceptions to everything. if you are still doing reasonable physical activity at night then it wont affect you.

if what i know is faulty, then show me. i am very open to being proven wrong. i read alot of nutritional, exercise and general physical fitness books, magazines and research. if im wrong, then prove me wrong.

That only matters if you go to sleep at 10pm or something.

OP, I wouldn't worry about monitoring protein, calories, etc, etc. I know if I did that it would probably drive me crazy. What you should pay very close attention to is the TYPES of food you are eating. Eating as much RAW fruits and vegetables as possible, lots of greens, beans, nuts, lean meats, etc. Stay away from anything fried, processed, sugarified, caffienated, or hydrogenated oils and such.

Just eat HEALTHY FOODS and exercise, that's all there is to it really.
And 1,200 calories a day is definitely not enough, even for a little girl.
If you eat the right kinds of food, you won't even worry about 'going over', because it doesn't really matter. 2,000 calories worth of vegetables, is NOT the same as 2,000 calories from a big mac.

If your lifting weights and your not getting enough protein you will not advance in building muscle, and not get the metabolism boost that weights can give you. Definitely eat raw foods...about 30 to 50% is plenty. Then focus on clean protein sources. Definitely monitor ratios and calories. Anyone who tells you to not become aware of your intake has never been seriously overweight.

this "habit" leads to a whole chain of misunderstandings, if you make statements this bold,
you should at least take your time to 'finish your sentence'.

cuz otherwise its just plain wrong.

Guilty. I'm 6'1" and I don't think I've ever been over 190 lbs my entire life.
