another wood hike

I went to a hike to find some gourmet mushrooms, but too many days has passend from the last rains...so i didn?t find anything exiting...btw i took some pics...hope you enjoy

let?s start with a panorama

some kind of amanita (i?m not very used to wild mushrooms)

Very nice pictures. Not only are the pictures of the mushrooms nice, but you sure have some very nice woods around you. I wish I had an area such as that to walk through.

The ringless amanita is probably Amanita vaginata:

Just take a road trip to the Smokies man. I know it's not far from Atlanta and it's something fun you can do with the wife. I have spent many, many, many nights in the backcountry there (over a month total I'm sure) in all seasons.

Right now would be a prime time to look for mushrooms. If you're not up for a long hike, there are plenty of places where you can drive to a trailhead or attraction and walk only a short distance. I prefer the long hikes, but YMMV.
