I second that motion.

And while your at it, add something like "Science and New Age Theories" to the title or description. ("New Age Theories" meaning to include discussion on subjects such as aliens, astrology, crop circles, etc., which might not be considered scientific, spiritual, or philosophic to some people)

I'm sure there are people who would argue that all these things are covered by "Philosophy" or "Science," but let's just make it clear for those who might not see it that way. People always like to dicuss these topics in the S&P forum, but I'm not so sure "S&P" really covers these common topics of discussion.

Just a way to make it a little bit clearer. *shrugs*

i think it should be renamed "Gibberish, Baseless Opinions, and Never-ending Religious Arguments" forum. that's mostly what it is, imno.

how can we trace the evolution of a thread in this forum...?

1) it starts out with a lot of people dropping thier opinions on a subject, then it gets a little crowded and there is really too much to read.

2) maybe a back and forth argument between two users will occur and dominate the thread..maybe not.

3) at some point everyone has had thier opinion heard and the thread is crowded with gibberish. the thread becomes unmanagable and is abandoned to everyone's relief. a similar thread is started by someone else a week later.

4) Religious threads also have the added characteristic that everyone generally lines up on 1 or the other side of the argument and tosses insults/propaganda or arguments depending on which side yr on until the thread is exhausted. no one from either side ever goes to the other side.

i think the philosophy/spirituality forum should be a place to exchange ideas gathered from one's experience and backed by reason or share other people's ideas one has read about. argument is fine if it is carried on in an orderly manner but this is nearly impossible on the internet. there are too many opinions/lines of argument. if someone actually had the time to follow up every argument the "thread" would be a "tree" with a million bifurcations.

another example of a patently absurd argument is the one made by enter earlier that post count is somehow related to post importance. this is obviously illogical as one could post 2000 posts worth of total bullshit and idiocy, as enter himself has done, and still have 2000 posts to one's record.
