Moe's Outdoor using Compost
    #823729 - 08/17/02 01:37 PM (22 years, 1 month ago)

I am much to poor and lazy to go buy composted dung and straw for Moe's tek. However one of my good friends has a rather large compost pile (fruit leavings, peels, the usual compost ingredients) This will be a find substitue correct? I want to make sure so I don't waste my cakes when I bury them.

It might work, but I've never tried to do anything outdoors. Nevertheless, a 40 lb. bag of composted cow shit is usually under $1. If you can't afford that, how can you afford anything?

Well I've also gotta stay pretty secretive, I don't feel like hiding 40 pounds of cowshit in my room.

no, i may be wrong, but i dont believe normal "garden compost" would work, but if this is a one shot deal, buy some scotts 3-1, or composted manure, like mickey said, but just buy it right before you plan to put your bed out, straight from the car to the hole. would actually be more
secretive" than hauling and shoveling your friends compost in. you can find smaller bags, that would work fine. and usuall runs less than 3 bucks.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Joshua grew some off grass clippings.

Isn't a garden combust pile full of bacteria? My grandma has a big compost pile and I swear that thing would smell better if it were full of fresh shit.

Yeah, but usually that bacteria is grower friendly(when it comes to plants)thats why so many gardeners use it. Trying it on fungi is a different story. Even so, I still see no problem with it since I see mushrooms growing in compost piles where I live. Granted your spawn ratio should be proportioned so that it may take over the compost before the uglies decide too(in a controlled environment). Although outdoor grows seem to be more forgiving.
