I haven't used that exact tek,(sry)
But I have been putting contamed cakes outside, hoping that the myc. would recover and fruit...no luck with that so far.
As for good uncontamed cakes...So far i've only tried one pint cake and it fruited pretty well =)

Farmers are nice people they dont think much of it, or you could always just buy your own cow . Say it`s for your garden.

no cows or horses are sold by shroomery sponsors, ebay also doesnt help much. the substrate can pf or grain, but what can i cover it up with? straw? peat? why not just earth (simply bury the colonized substrate)?

You tell them that you need it for your Mothers rose garden.
They are more than glad to give it away...in most cases.
Come on...you have had to said something much more stupid than..."Can I get some horse manure from you?"..in your life.
Do you have a problem asking a woman out on a date?
It's basically the same thing...get up the courage and just do it.

You really got to read the package from those places. Most of their stuff is poultry manure which won't work. The only one I saw at MY local HD/ Lowes that had cow manure only had 10% manure in it. :C A few people have reported success with Scotts 3n1 but I have yet to find it at any of my local stores.

Actually I have serious trouble talking to women but none whatsoever asking a farmer for some crap....they got enough of it...Also I`m sure compost would work. I hear of people just burying them but I`m sure the addition of straw and shit would result in a much nicer flush and larger fruits.

Do you mean the mushrooms themselves or the yeilds? I have yet to see ANY outdoor bed that could top an indoor bed on yeild per square foot. Not seen any outdoor beds mushies grow like this:
And I think the biggest mushrooms I've ever seen have been indoor cultivated:
You can get some big thick ones from outside though..I've seen them..inside is where its at though for cubies.

I never had a problem asking farmers if I could hunt mushrooms, most of them have had a few.
most farms will give you truck loads because they would end up paying for disposal.
the EPA is on them for several reasons over manure http://www.billingsgazette.com/index.php...manure-fire.inc

What do you put it in? Just bring a think trash bag, put the manure in it, and then stick it in your car and drive off?

I suggest 4 or 6 mil plastic... thicker than a trash bag.

I take a few large rubbermaids and fill those up if I'm using my car.
If I'm using my truck...I take a tarp and load the bed of my truck up.
A shovel is a must.

In reference to whoever said what to cover it with...
You can throw down ur sub, cover it w/ some sub,(uncolonized w/e or more sub if ya got it ). Then cover it with plastic, they sell it at lowes, donno the proper name for it but its thick, plastic or rubber should suffice. Ck every 2-3 days until it all looks nice and colonized, then un-cover, case with casing(lol)....and viola..(kinda)...mist everyday if need be and you should be happening..
O and the reason that indoors is so much better is because (duh), you control the environment, that's why outside there's typically either several monsters in a patch or a bunch of regulars....I've never found a bed like those pics...and i doubt that i ever will...but i have seen some nice ones outside though...=)

sooo just follow moe's tek word and you should be okay right??? can you mix white millet with straw and horse crap with a 1:1:1 ratio? being 1:colonized millet 2:pasturized straw 3:horse crap just throw it all in and mix it up real good...and wait for colonization and then case it up?

hey wait a minute, we're talking of moe's tek here. on moe's tek there's no trace of mixed ingredients, nor plastic covers, nor casing. moe's tek is a layer tek, being layers as follows (upper to lower):
-wet hay (thin) -hay+earth (2 inches) -wet hay (very thin) -colonized spawn -wet hay (1 inch) -manure (1 inch) -wet hay -colonized spawn
that is 8 different layers in a 6 inches hole on the ground, which sounds quite strange but THIS is moe's tek as described here: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23355 if you have your own suggestions about casings, pre-mixed ingredients and plastic coverups this is the place to talk about them, but don't call it moe's tek, or you just create confusion in our newbie heads!

Who posted any variation of moes tek other then yourself? Ignostic posted what "he could do" but didnt say anything about it being moes tek. This guys substituting all kinda of stuff..you cant do that and then say were still supposed to follow the tek to a T. The start of the thread talked of moes...the rest of the thread has been substitutions and other methods..none of them claim to be moes incorrectly that I can see.

i didn't want to be violent or unkind in anyway, scat, just confused: why should one make 8 layers when just mixing manure, straw and spawn together will do the work anyway? i'm not saying that making layers would be too difficult, just... where do these 8 layers come from? why not 5 or 15 then? i'd like the most experienced of you to write down their own outdoor teks for cubensis and have them published in the faqs, we have dozens of different versions of the pftek and only moe's tek for outdoor! please take this as a suggestion, not a complaint
