Have'nt been "in the loop" for a bunch of years, but beeman used to be king. Pricey, but supposedly worth it. The r1 and kodiak ring a bell as killer airguns. Go with the bigger calibre, .22 or .25 even. I have a .177 800fps Gamo. Mediocre, but I got it as a rather poor youngin'.

yeah this website has beeman as more expensive. seems good quality talk, it's in my price range. i'd spend up to $400 for a nice rifle.

see, I'm not sure if i should buy a decent gun, and spend more on a better scope. i'm not sure i should buy a "package rifle" with the scope attached already.

i should visit the army/navy store this week sometime. i'm not real knowledgeble with this stuff, but quite imprisoned on the idea of owning and shooting.

In regards to that one you posted, the velocity might actually be too high. Again, it's been a long while since I've been into this stuff, but I recall hearing that since the .177 pellets are so light, they wobble horribly and are very inaccurate/inconsistant over 1200fps. Plus, super velocity .177's are'nt necessary anyway as the hole is so small. If 800-1000 ca'nt get the job done, 1500 wont either, it'll just zing right through them.

I have a 1000fps Winchester pellet rifle. Thats about all the push you'll need with .177 pellets. Even with this gun I often punch right through birds and small game.

It only cost about $100. But then again, I only spent $100 on my .22 rifle at a pawn shop also. Heres both.

But I had to have a pellet gun to control the pigeon population in my neighborhood. I couldn't be firing my .22 without drawing unwanted attention in the suburbs!

Also, don't buy a package deal with a scope. You'll get a much better scope for the money buying it separately.

Sure, nuclear fallout from secret government testing has birthed a new mutated breed of super-opossum necessitating the superior firepower of the larger pellets.

Aside from the noise level i really dont get it. You could Buy all kinds of rifles or handguns for those prices. Hell if you shop Military surplus you could pick up a handful of guns for some of those prices.

I like Shooting an AK with somewhat accuracy out of a $70 dollar rifle.

The huge caliberrs are actually for air guns. Search for Korean air guns and Chinese shit. Actually I think one of those countries uses an air powered gun like that with huge canisters propelling the pellet as fast as a bullet with no powder...

actually heres a link

http://www.pyramydair.com/site/articles/career-dragon/

with a really cool 50 cal air rifle. Damn that is sweet actually...I want one.

While driving my overpowered car around tight corners like a maniac all my friends yell out. Hey man slow down, we might Wreck. I reply, Shut up, I drive like Dale Earnhardt. They all look around at each other and laugh. Then one asks me. Hey wait, isnt he dead? Well yeah he is I said. Then I drive like Junior I mumble, while I promptly slow down.

I have a Gamo spring loaded pellet gun I like very much. Similar to this http://www.gamousa.com/family.aspx?family=Big%20Cat%C2%AE%20Series&familyID=90 ; RWS, Sheridan, they all have good offerings.  Target guns are generally around 800 FPS, hunting up to about 1250.
