Probably Ravi Shankar or something of the sort should fit your needs. If your talking sitar music and the likes, which I'm guessing you are.

the band shakti is great. "remember shakti" is the 30yearlater reincarnation of the band. equally as good.

I too have been interested in middle eastern and native american music...

Um, Inlakesh is a pretty sweet Australian band with heavy didgeridoo use

The Devil's Anvil was, I believe, a Middle Eastern psychedelic band in the vein of The Deep

Lata Mangeshkar isn;'t trippy, but she is one of the most pivotal characters in Indian music and should be checked out anyway
