I did exactly that in the summer of 1967 after I left the Monterey Pop Festival. Efven had a back stage pass during the whole three days.

You are far more the expert, but the weather in the Bay Area has been "out of season", and I have seen "other" mushrooms popping up lately, so I don't know that I would completely count out ANY more fruitings. It has never yet really gotten to the freezing point, and loads of rain lately. Seems like the season has been enlongated, and maybe even delayed?

You had backstage passes to the Montery Pop festival?? Wow, that must have been awesome at the time, and become even more so, considering who performed there. If you ever have any interesting stories that you want to share about it, I'd love to read them.

Well, I would prefer not to be too specific about places I have heard of, only because if they are overrun with people, that could become a problem for everyone, and attract too much undue attention. Check out places/parks/gardens with Pine and/or Eucalyptus trees, Alder, etc, mulch/chips. Being that finding anything at this time of year appears to be a fluke, I am not sure about your chances in the second week of March, but it certainly can't hurt to look....

I was actually asking about other types of destinations. Live music. Natural wonders. Golden Gate. Whatever you think is worth seeing.

We have a cabin for a weekend on Tahoe and plan on shroomin there. That should be nice.

You know, living in the Bay Area, I tend to get into that rut where I don't get out and see as many things as probably most of the tourists. That being the case, I am probably a rather lousy source for things like this. There are MANY great clubs, sights, etc - I just don't have them on the tip of my tounge - or anywhere else on my person for that matter. Sure, Golden Gate bridge, Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, etc, are all nice things to see and visit - but for the more "exotic" and "secret" or "little known" places, I will have to leave that to people who get out more than myself, sorry!

A cabin in Tahoe sounds WAY cool though, have a great time!
