San francisco hunt, Possible cyans. Pics!!!
    #3272779 - 10/24/04 09:25 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Just got back from sf, it still might be a little early but here are the pics. An id on any of these would be great.
We thought these might be cyans but i am sure that they are not now that i look at the pic. Not my arms, yes he shaves them.

i think this is a shaggy mane

And then we found a shit load of these, i wish they were cyans.

I think your right about it being a little early -- but things do look good ahead.

I don't know. Cyans are supposed to have white stems and the look-alikes often have brownish stems. I would not eat them without getting a spore print and a professional opinion first.

The orangy stem is a dead giveaway that they are NOT cyans! Sorry! Keep trying.

Cyans stems are white and bruise blue. I found a bunch today with thinner stems...but they still bruised blue. Most I find have chunkier stems.

Keep looking!

Here's a pic to help you see what the stems look like as well as the cap color. Note the blue staining.

Some caps are darker and some lighter...but the stems are white or off white staining blue.

Can you post some more pics of your arms? I know those are your arms. You took that picture to make it look like it was someone elses arms, but I bet their yers.

LOL! WTF? Hah.

Anyways, about the mushrooms, no they're not cyans. Perhaps they are Galerinas. Without a spore print all I can tell you is they are LBMs that aren't cyans :p

You were correct about the shaggy mane.

The last mushrooms appear to be some sort of Conocybe or perhaps Mycena.
