this guy's speaking style may get annoying and repetative but get through it, it's about an hour. i came away with a better understanding of just how evil and fucked up this world really is. just imagine how different america would be right now after 35 years of energy independence. the magnitude of what has been stolen out of the pockets of americans through gas prices is beyond comprehension. this is what people must mean when they say 'we're all slaves'.

hope this vid hasn't been posted before, didn't see it in a search.

Um, sorry to break it to you, (without watching the video), but Americans are not "slaves" to gas prices. Americans are the ones who started making the decisions to buy cars and start consuming oil. Americans are the ones who started buying products whose production are in some manner assisted by oil. Americans are slaves to no one but themselves. :rolleyes:

More realistically, as oil hits $105/barrel, the market will, quite naturally, bring us off of oil, as innovation will proliferate as there is more incentive to invest in alternatives. If the Iraq War is a signfigant factor in the rise of the cost of oil (it was, but other factors such as the growth of countries like China and India are responsible as well), then one could really argue that George W. Bush has done more for environmentalism than any environmentalist would feel comfortable giving him credit for.

If you came away with an understanding of "how evil and fucked up the world is", then not only were you duped, but you are also more irrational now than you were before. The world isn't "evil" or "fucked up".

that fuel consumption has DROPPED for the first time in a decade.

it seems that the market has found a striking point between supply
costs and demand.

in this regard, I agree twith f_g that we are not slaves...there are
plenty of other alternatives...people have just been lulled in to
a false sense of security re: the affordability of commuting and
excessive driving.

plus, the expansion of the service economy and improvements in
technology will continue to foster telecommuting.

I keep reading about electric cars coming soon. (i would buy one just to use around town) why the fuck are we not building Nuclear plants NOW! (like Europe)

you felt the need to shit on me and you didn't even watch the video? nice. i admit my comments are extreme, i used to think just like you about the situation. this video altered that view, that's the point of this thread. if you miss the vid you miss the point and have no reason for posting those condescending remarks.

i know an hour is a long time, i don't blame anyone for not watching it. this vid is for certain people looking for certain knowledge, that's it.

Excuse me once again, but I was responding to your conclusions from watching the video. Those are ideas, and I sought to discuss them. This is a discussion forum, after all. The video is entirely irrelevant regarding that. The point is that I have serious questions with your conclusions and decided to address them. You are the one who presented them, so if you have a problem with someone wanting to discuss them, then don't post them in the first place.

It doesn't exactly compel any of us to watch your long ass video if you can't even stand up for your conclusions from the video. :smirk:

Every politician in the world is receiving support from a group who may not support their entire agenda.
