casing substrate mix ok?

hey everyone... as my friend is getting ready to case a quart of colonized grains... he was wondering if his mixture would work... whats hes going to do is mix sterilized peat and verm 50/50... he was wondering if he mixed it 50/50 added spring water, and squeezed it out till only a few drops dropped out and filled the casing tray 3/5ths add 1/5th colonized grains " about an inch) and some dry verm on top... would this be a good casing method? if anyone could respond as soon as possible as my friend awaits at this moment ready to go

Colonized grain on the bottom, the 50/50 mixture(1/2 in) on top.
An optional 1/2 in layer of moist vermiculite on bottom.
