Computer fans
    #8078356 -

So my fan officially shit the bed. It was loud as hell for the longest time and i kept wd-40ing it, but still the system overheats. I have been looking at this one from newegg - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200035

Are they all a standard size? will this fit in and attach properly to me mobo?

Are you talking a heatsink for the processor?

No, they are not all the same. However, the good ones will come with various mounting kits to allow it to work with most systems. Look up your motherboard to see what type of socket it uses for the CPU. Once you know the socket type, you can verify that the heatsink/fan assembly will mount properly. The one in the link you provided looks to be designed for a socket 775.

Also, you want to see what kind of header the CPU fan plugs into (on the motherboard). It will be either three pin or four pin. Make certain that the fan on the cooler you buy has a matching fan plug. Most are three pins, but newer boards are going to four pin.

Finally, make certain that you have enough room and watch out for the weight of the heatsink. Heavy heatsinks should come with a backplate to help support their weight. Not all cases are wide enough to handle the larger heatsinks.

If you have to screw mount it from the other side of the motherboard, you have to take out all your computer components to get to it. Luckily for me, when I bought my heatsink, I was building a computer, so it all worked out fine.

Could be a slight pain in the ass...
