AppleOne Staffing Agency

does anyone have any experience w/ this recruiting firm?

I am moving to Denver this wk end, sans a job, and have been applying for jobs in my field.

I found a job on craigslist and applied via email. about 1 hour later a recruiter called me on my cell and told me that I would be perfect for the job I was applying for (my qualifications did match up well to the craigslist job post.) and that I should come in as soon as I get into town to discuss the job.

I was thrilled at first, but then i did a little research on appleone - a company that is apparently the one of the biggest staffing firm in the US, but not one I have ever heard of. I read a bunch of posts on various types of forums that state that this firm really sucks, and that they use unwitting, potential job candidates as marketing tools in an effort to solicit more clients. but, its the internet, so i guess i shouldnt blindly believe a few disgruntled former employees.

i then went on the appleone website to search for the same job i found on craigslist. it was posted, but the description was slightly different, and included different qualifications and generally looked like a job I would be less willing to take and enjoy. so bottom line I am skeptical.

i havent had to use a staffing firm in about 5 yrs, and have my own mixed reviews (Robert Half fucking sucks, but a smaller, locally based firm worked out for me)

obviously i would prefer to not have to go the staffing service route if i can help it, but it may come down to it. the supposed salary appleone job is offering is a little higher than i would expect, so I wonder if they are jerking me around just to get me through the door.

so, does anyone have any experience w/ this agency?

no experience, but i'd also be really skeptical. i'd steer clear of them... you'd be better off finding a company that is known for their great employee treatment and such...

All staffing agencies are notoriously evil. Demand to know how much they are getting paid for your services and to see a breakdown of their other costs above that. You'll be surprised to find how much they are ripping you off sometimes.

i went through them for a hospital job. i always got my check on time and had no complications.

course, i wasnt ever late and i always showed up. if you mess with them they will can you quick. when i quit, i no called/no showed one day and called to quit the next.. but i had already been replaced.

I've used them. They got me a job at American Express, it was temp and I was never hired on but that wasn't appleone's fault, it was Amex's. I worked there for a full year. The pay wasn't great but it got me some good epxerience. The job was travel industry call center. The next job they got me was a direct placement with a collections agency that paid about 11.88. I left not long after because collections sucks. I haven't worked with them since but they will find you a job for sure.

i have personal experience with them, theyre weird and very unusual... they do take a lot of money and they dont tell you how much either. and if they find new jobs for you they have you on a need to know basis, meaning youre not allowed to call that prospective employer for information.. its a scam that should be illegal.

Why should it be illegal?

There's nothing wrong with temp agencies inherently and it can be a great way to get in the door for a good company. Lots of people have gotten into real estate and banking through temp services.
