Valentine's Day Riot

I've never seen anything like this before in my life. After the Dead Prez show on my campus, police officers arrested someone who got into a fight. Considering the affection people at my school hold for police officers, an attempt was made to hinder the arrest of this gentleman. At the time I arrived on the scene there were about 100 people crowded around, with a good number of those people blocking the patrol car the contained the arrested youth. Additionally there were 13+ police vehicles stationed around the area. So the police move in and push the crowd out of the way of the patrol car and it starts driving away. That's where things got crazy. People started throwing sticks, bottles, trash cans, rocks, anything they could at the retreating police. One of their cars would not start and was left behind. Needless to say :grin: it was destroyed

Looks like they only got the 1 out of 14 cop cars....pretty shoddy riot if you ask me.

They also had pepper spray, which burns considerably

Just read an article about it. For one, it's cool that a small school (I'm assuming it's a pretty small school, I've never heard of it) can get Dead Prez. I guess that's more on Dead Prez's end. Doesn't seem like their thing though, unless you have a huge black population. It also sounds like the cops handled it fairly well.

Somehow this isn't surprising behavior after a Dead Prez concert. I wonder if the administration knew what they were getting when they approved Dead Prez to perform there.
