How long does a datura cutting take to root when put in a jar with water (traditionnal way)? Would hormones make it quicker? I took the cutting from a garden center, they had yellow flowers.. what species is it? Thanx!

the only yellow flowered Datura i know of is a horticultural hybrid and i wouldn't even begin to guess at which species were crossed to create it.
there are many yellow flowered Brugmansia cultivars out there. if it gets big (more than a couple feet) and woody it's probably a Brug, many nurseries sell them as "Datura"
oh, and if it is a Brug, mine usually root within a couple weeks if they are healthy. if it's a true Datura i don't know, they are generally an annual and i grow them from seed.
and if you are thinking about eating this plant i'd advise against it.

if you got it from the nursery it is probably Datura Brugmansia/Tree Datura/Angel Trumpet. they are pretty easy to root. i have a huge pink flowered one. they do come back each year, if they die at all, but i promise you that if you do datura once you will probably never ever do it again.

I have no intention at all of consuming any part of that plant, Its just because it is pretty, and has a powerfull aura.. and a nice smell Yeah I do think now its a brugmansia, the leaves and stem are kinda hairy, I ve got some seeds of those too.. But Im gonna have some inoxia seeds normally shortly, again, not for consumption..
