Wow, I must say this movie is hauntingly beautiful. I had read an article about it back when they were wrapping up production, but damn I'm almost moved to tears.
For those of you that have never heard of it, it's a documentary shot about people committing suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. In the time of shooting, the makers of the film caught 23 different people jumping to their deaths and interviewed some of their family and witnesses to get an in depth story of what brought those individuals to take the plunge.
Beautiful cinematography and an absolutely heart wrenching story. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
Quote:
The Bridge focuses on the large number of suicides that occur each year at the Golden Gate Bridge, capturing footage of the suicides and interviewing family members. Also interviewed are people who have attempted suicide at the bridge, and witnesses of the suicides.
The movie was shot with multiple cameras pointed at a notorious suicide spot on the bridge during 2004. It captured 19 people as they took their final plunge, and then offers interviews with grieving families.

HOLY SHIT. They just showed a guy that was up there taking pictures off the bridge and a girl climbed over the railing and was about to jump. (He was being filmed the entire time by cameras on the ground) He was taking pictures of her at first because she looked like she was going to sit down outside the railing for a little while. But then after a little bit he realized she was about to jump. So he walked over to her and grabbed the back of her jacket and lifted her back up over the railing right before she was about to take the plunge.
They showed all the video footage of it from the ground along with his testimonial and the pictures he took of her right before she was about to jump.

I'm going to have a hard time trying to go to sleep after this...

Yeah, when I first heard the concept of this film I thought it sounded kinda morbid and voyeuristic. But I was surprised how well it was done. Some of the footage is absolutely amazing and the interviews are pretty great also. The kid who jumped and survived is a pretty interesting interview!

Yeah, they just got done showing the guy that survived.
It's really amazing how they go so in depth about the rationality and the motives and reasoning behind each individual they talk about. About what they were feeling and what it was like to climb over the edge and let go.
Pretty surreal stuff.

Wow, that was definitely a weird experience just watching that.
For anyone interested, it's going to be on again at 2:40am EST on IFC.

I don't think I could handle watching that. Makes me sick thinking of it.

Yea watched this movie a few months ago. It was pretty incredible. The scene near the end of the long haired guy jumping still sticks with me. Very powerful.

He was the only guy that jumped with any sort of grace and style. He stood up on the rails, threw his hands up and went over straight backwards.
Everyone else did a half assed drop while kicking all the way down.
If you are going to go, at least go with confidence.
