little orange specks?

in one of my jars there are some little tiny specks of orange. its just in one jar so i dont know. growth hasnt even started, but the jars were about two weeks old. any ideas? it doesnt look like anything bad, really looks like cheeto flakes or something.

Could just be vermiculite. Just wait and see if it grows anything.

i think you should keep an eye on it and see if those orange specks grow in number or in size. if yes, its definately a contamination. if not, it may be a contamination

personally i dont think that it is vermiculite, because:

a) verm is brown, not orange except if i am colorblind, which is possible
b) only one jar has those specks, while probably all of them were made by the same tek
c) it seems as a logical assumption from your post that you didnt have orange specks in that jar from the beginning, so what happened? did verm decided to change its color?

anyway, the best solution is to snap a pic if possible and post this thread to contamination forum as Moe wrote.
