Embarrassing things you do when no one else is home?
    #7963774 -

I confessed this to some friends the other day while we were all tripping on acid, but yeah, I've been listening to old fifties tunes when no one is home, a lot of Elvis, and practicing the Twist in our spacious living room. I just wanna be able to bust out all these old timey fifties dance moves at the drop of a hat.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

Nothing wrong with the tunes... but the twist? Haha!

I've been known to attempt singing Ella Fitzgerald, Neko Case, and other such femanine voices when nobody's around...

I'm a deep baritone if that paints a proper picture. It ain't pretty.

Daedalus, your child is falling and the Labyrinth is calling.
Renegade heaps, humanity abandoned
Bower of the vowels, you lit them and fanned them.
Mercury, the courier, celestial messenger
Bed with Dawn, your bride.
Arrowhead of Diane, pierce the mind of a man,
Tongueless muse of time

Once I have the Twist down, it's on to the Charleston.

i don't really think that's all that embarrassing.

That's fucking awesome! Hahahaha!

Here's one... I'll willingly sniff my own farts. Always nice to get some of your own odor. Nothing quite like it!

If that doesn't qualify as embarrassing I don't know what is.

Well yeah that's a given, but not embarrassing. Our friend Matt, me and my roomies all love him and all but...dude...just cause you got a copy of the keys to our apt doesn't mean you can drop in without calling first. Dude walked in on me blasting Okkervil River, singing along while taking a crap with the door wide open the other day.

A little off-topic, but Okkervil River, ... yep ... good shit!

It just occured to me that maybe I am not easily embarrassed because I can't really think of anything.

I dance around in front of the mirror a lot. I'm rather vain.

Ever since we were little, my sister Miriam and I both like to play Music Video...which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, in front of a mirror.

That's awesome, hehe. My fantasy is to one day have an entire room lined with mirrors. I personally believe that mirrors have supernatural and shamanic qualities. I had an intense Goddess-type experience while shrooming and staring at myself in the mirror last weekend. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I don't fear the mirror in the slightest while tripping...I used to, but not anymore. i've faced death in the mirror, and the fact that my godawful father's genes are expressing themselves through my facial structure, and if I could face either of those, I'll be fine with whatever else the mirror can throw my way.

Mirrors and shrooming... one of those few times I'm glad to be partially blind. :yesnod:

GROOVY!  I feel a little self-conscious while dancing still, since I am unskilled.  I need to find a way to help myself totally break loose.  (the only way seems to be just not giving a shit and breaking loose! :tongue2:)

When I'm out and about, it usually takes drugs, low doses will do, to get me totally unlocked and lacking self-conscious. And the right people, too, of course. When I go to CoSM with some of the folks from this very message board it's easy to let go.

What I like about dancing is the way it can induce trance.  It really works.  I have yet to really lose myself in a space where there are other people also dancing, but I think it's because I have latent social fear issues.

When I dance I like to let my body choose what it wants to do and what movement feels right.  I have this belief that particular body movements can open gates to other dimensions, so it's important that I learn how to utilize this.  Sometimes I can envision Krishna dancing around me with his flute and that helps let go.  This entire discussion will probably help the next time I dance, because YES, it is my goal to be in a state of liberation and letting go at all times.  Especially when it comes to bodily movement...

Also yoga moves tend to come out when I dance.  Trance and dance!  I need to get out and dance more... that much is obvious.

I am so self conscious about dancing I feel stupid doing it even when I'm alone in my apartment.  Like the neighbors downstairs can tell how terrible I am by the way the floor creaks

Get over yourself, Whiskey
