Without pictures to know for certain, this could be the weight of jars, lids, casing material, etc. The term "processed psilocybin mushrooms" is pretty vague.

340 individual bags of a half pound each would be hard to sell, like I said, there just isn't a market for large amounts of mushrooms.

if he individually wrapped up half pounds, i guess he was just selling half pounds. not really a large amount (at once). the fact that he vacuumed sealed them, just goes to show he knew he'd probably be keeping them for awhile or was planning on shipping them. he could sell a pound or two a month and that'd be a lot of extra income.

probably grew them like crazy and harvested them as he went just stocking up. (doubt he picked them) then got rid of his grow (less charges right) or he could have just been a middle man or had his grow somewhere else and started selling. he also had packaging materials and they were vacuume sealed... maybe he was shipping them all over the states?? (i know a guy in tennessee who gets pot in the mail from humboldt county)

i'd say there is a definate market for them. in my area you can't get them right now, and quarter elbows go for $500

There is a market to get rid of as many mushrooms as you can grow in the US, its just a risky market.

It was covert. The guy had to DIE, for it to revealed.

$500,000 worth of mushrooms seems a bit exaggurated. I'm guessing he had some growing in a few monotubs, and they weighed the mycelium or something. that kind of amount doesn't just pop up all at once.

He had to have been storing them. He might have been extremely sentimental on the other hand.

Some people really like their mushrooms. They want to save their previous grows, and revisit them later. We really can't say anything until we know what this guy was like.

But damn, all those mushrooms...
