Favorite Bands/Artists from England?

At first I did favorite band/artist, then I realized it was fucking impossible, so I remade the poll so you can pick 5.
Edit: If I left anyone off, sorry, there's an option for you to pick if I did and then just write them in a post. And as you can tell I started to run out of bands at the end, so I had to throw in some other options, if you got a problem with Duran Duran being on the list then fuck off

You cant group those 2gether just because they from england. They are different genres and ages.
But the plain and simple truth is for bands it goes...
The beatles 60's Oasis 90's Arctic Monkeys Now
You can argue til your blue in the face but i live in london and thats just the truth, the beatles started it, oasis continued it and now the monkeys are doing theyre thing.
I love arctic monkeys, theyre making kids pick up guitars again instead of hiphop beat machines or knives. I have learned every song of theyres on the guitar after i gave up playing years ago.
ps i didnt realise aphex twin were british!?
whys there new albums track titles all written in dutch or somehting?

Wikipedia told me HE was from England. I can also group together whatever artists I damn well please. I was thinking the other day "Man, Radiohead is most definitely my favorite band from England" and then I started thinking about it. Figured I'd see what you all thought.

He't not from England, his page says he was born in Ireland, but he presides in England and grew up there.

Woah yes you can post what you damn well please as you so politely put it.
But to a rational mind having the beatles and arctic monkeys on the same list does not make sense as i prefer the arctic monkeys because im more new school but rationally the beatles HAVE to top them as they did more.
So i voted arctic monkeys, but beatles are top of that list for sure.

Well I don't understand the problem. No where in my post does it say who is the best, or the most influential, or the most important. I simply asked what ones you liked the most. By your logic, I shouldn't be able to ask if you like 50s doo wop more than 90s grunge because they aren't the same thing.

ugh...
Oasis is SO overrated (yes in my honest fucking opinion of course). Seriously though, the fact that so many people even began to hail them as the second coming of The Beatles is just laughable.
And the Arctic Monkeys??? Really? I'm sorry to come off as such a music-elitist dick (believe me I consciously try not to be), but the Arctic Monkeys are not the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or even 50th most interesting musical act to come along in recent years. If it's these mediocre chaps that truly spark more of an interest for you than any other contemporary artists making records, then I have to seriously question whether in fact you listen to much music to begin with. and btw, a minor side note: Aphex Twin is just one guy, Richard D. James.
jewunit, cool poll..however you did forget some pretty awesome UK artists such as Cream, Blind Faith, Traffic, Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized, to name a few.
peace...

I purposely left Cream out, just as I left out Osbourne on his own. I figured if you wanted Cream you could pick Clapton, although I should have made them both options. The other bands I'm not even aware of.

Are we talking about England or the UK? If the UK, I vote for Belle and Sebastian.
