humidity problems??!!!!
    #794049 - 08/03/02 10:35 AM (15 years, 22 days ago)

alright i've got 6 mazatapec cakes waiting to be birthed but i can't get the humidity high enough in my terrarium!

my terrarium is a coleman cooler with well sealed lid even more sealed with duct tape. i have about a 2 inch layer of perlite in the bottom which has had plunty of water added (maybe even too much which could be my problem too). it has been two days now waiting to see what happens. i've tried adding more water once that didn't help, i also added a small layer of dry perlite to the top of the moist layer: still no results.

right now average humidity is 50% the highest i've been able to get it is 60%.

what have i done wrong or not done at all?

any help would be great i really want to birth the cakes soon.

anybody seen the bridge?

most likely you have too much water. soak the perlite then drain it. if you still need more humidity add a fish tank bubbler.

What is your temp inside the cooler? What are you measuring 50% rh with?

Your guage might be incorrect. Keep us updated.

most likely your guage is off, but keep in mind your rh will go up when you place your cakes in there. with perlite you shouldn't have a problem though. if worse comes to worse just mist the walls and/or case. its worth it. good luck

the truth and reason for the above post has been diminished by its very beginning..holding no facts,, but squeezing every bit of fiction...

how 'bout a hug??...
